Keeping in Shape During Holidays
We work so hard all year long to get in shape only to have fallen off the wagon during the end of the year holidays. January finds us heavier and slower than we were at the beginning of November. No one wants this to happen.
This leads to the inevitable resolution every January to exercise everyday for that day forward. There are ways to stop from needing to make this yearly pledge.
#1- Stick to a fitness plan that only allows you to heat a day or two a week. Do not let yourself dive into holiday goodies anytime you want. Limit yourself.
This is difficult with some many festivities to attend. It might be easy to lose track of your designated cheat days. You can end up gaining weight easily.
Holidays
Try to limit loading up on foods with a lot of fat. Add salads and fruit to your meals. These healthy choices will help to fill you up and keep you from being hungry longer. They also help you avoid the “gut bomb” feeling of gorging yourself.
#2- Stay active. This is a challenge with the busy holiday times. This is true of both your office and at your home. There is a lot of things were doing.
Don’t let these time constraints keep you from exercising. Just because you can’t get to your gym does not mean that you can exercise. You can take try an exercise routine at home or get out and go around your bloc. Perspiring for 30 minutes a day will at least help you maintain a pattern of activity.
#3- Choose to make your vacation during the holidays one with some activity. You might want to go skiing, snow camping, or sledding. You will benefit by doing more than just sitting around and chatting with relatives. Chat with them after a good days out on a trail. Your family will enjoy the time together and you will be healthier for it.
Holidays can be more than eating everything in site and watching Christmas TV specials. You do not want to have to deal with extra lard added over the holidays. Move your body and make wise food choices and you will begin the year with a great start.
